What this job is

Claims Assessors examine claims made against insurance policies or compensation schemes. They gather information, check it against policy terms, assess the evidence, and reach a decision on whether a claim should be paid and for how much. The work involves reading policy documents, interviewing claimants or their representatives, liaising with investigators or medical professionals, and writing clear assessment reports. The role is not about selling insurance. It is about applying rules consistently and fairly to real situations that often involve people under financial or personal stress.

Pay

A$1,995 a week

This is the median for full-time employees who are not managers and are paid at the adult rate, before tax and salary sacrifice. It is a guide to what the work pays, not a wage rate.
