1.1 Changing Careers is run by Stefan Savva, trading as Changing Careers, ABN 11 302 300 115, of Redfern NSW 2016 ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at hello@changingcareers.com.au.
1.2 These terms apply when you use changingcareers.com.au (the "site"), including:
(a) the free Career Change Check at /assessment;
(b) the free AI exposure check at /ai-exposure-check;
(c) the free Role Fit Check on role pages;
(d) the paid Career Transition Sprint (the "Sprint"); and
(e) any account you hold with us.
1.3 Our Privacy Policy and Disclaimers form part of these terms.
1.4 By creating an account, giving us your email address for a free result, or paying for the Sprint, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. If your employer arranged your Sprint, you agree to these terms when you first sign in.
1.5 An employer or other organisation can arrange the Sprint for people it names (an "employer place"). Clause 6.9 sets out how employer places work. The rest of these terms apply to each person who uses an employer place in the same way as to someone who bought the Sprint themselves, except where clause 6.9 says otherwise.
2. What Changing Careers is, and what it is not
2.1 Changing Careers helps people working in Australia, especially in call centre, customer service and administration roles, to find occupations they could move into, see what stands between them and those roles, and prepare job applications. It uses published government labour-market data, software that matches your skills to occupations, generative AI, and a human career coach.
2.2 Changing Careers is not:
(a) a registered psychologist, counsellor or vocational rehabilitation provider;
(b) a financial adviser, migration agent or legal practice;
(c) an employer, recruiter or job board. We do not place you in a job, we do not hold job vacancies, and we have no live information about which employers have vacancies, where they are, or how many roles are open;
(d) a government employment service, such as Workforce Australia.
2.3 Everything we provide is general information to help you make your own decisions. Our Disclaimers explain this in more detail.
3. Who can use the site
3.1 You must be 18 or older to create an account or buy the Sprint.
3.2 The site is designed for people living and working in Australia. Our data describes Australian occupations, pay and qualifications, and may not suit anyone outside Australia.
4. Your account
4.1 You sign in either with a single-use link we email to you or with your Google account. We do not issue passwords.
4.2 Using a free check creates an account. When you enter your email address to see a Career Change Check or AI exposure check result, or to save a Role Fit Check result, we create an account for you under that email address so the result can be saved and you can come back to it.
4.3 You must give accurate information and keep access to your email inbox and Google account secure, because anyone who can open your email can sign in as you. Tell us straight away at hello@changingcareers.com.au if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4.4 You can update your name, phone number, suburb and resume email on your Account page. To change the email address or state on your account, email us.
5. The free checks
5.1 The Career Change Check asks your current job title and what you do in a normal week. It then shows up to six Australian occupations in one ranked list, with the skills you already have for each, each saying why it is there: people in similar work moved into it, it uses what you told us you do, or it is on the national shortage list and within your reach.
5.2 The Role Fit Check asks which skills and qualifications you hold for a specific occupation and shows how close you are to it.
5.3 Both checks are free. The Role Fit Check works out your result from published data tables and does not use generative AI. The Career Change Check works out its first list from published data tables, and uses generative AI (Anthropic's Claude models) to judge which occupations fit its other two lists. The Career Change Check and the AI exposure check show your result after you give us your email address. The Role Fit Check shows your result first, and asks for your email only if you want to save it and have it emailed to you. If you press "Get a link to this result" on a Role Fit Check result, anyone with the link can see that result, but not your email address. What we then send you is set out in our Privacy Policy, section 7.
5.4 The AI exposure check asks your current job title and shows how exposed that occupation is to generative AI, using Jobs and Skills Australia's exposure score. It is free and does not use generative AI. It shows your result only after you give us your email address, and what we then send you is set out in our Privacy Policy, section 7.
6. The Career Transition Sprint
6.1 Price. The Career Transition Sprint costs A$299, paid once, in full, at checkout. It is not a subscription and nothing is charged again. If you choose to pay in another currency at checkout, Stripe converts the price and your bank may charge its own fees.
6.2 GST. We are not registered for GST, so no GST is included in or added to the price. Your receipt is a receipt, not a tax invoice. If we register for GST, we will update our prices before they apply to any new purchase.
6.3 Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe asks for your name and billing address.
6.4 How long it lasts. The Sprint runs for 12 weeks (84 days) from the moment your payment is confirmed. The clock starts at payment, not at your first sign-in. For an employer place, the 12 weeks start on the day we set up the account, not at payment and not at your first sign-in.
6.5 What it includes. During the 12 weeks you can use the features listed in the Schedule to these terms. We may improve, change or replace a feature during your Sprint, but we will not remove the coach reviews, the Application Packs or the interview practice during your Sprint without giving you a pro rata refund. If we do, your Sprint ends as in clause 8.3.
6.6 Your coach. Your Sprint includes a human career coach, not an AI. Your coach may use generative AI to suggest edits and comments, and decides every change you receive. Your coach will:
(a) review a targeted resume or an Application Pack when you ask, up to three reviews in total during your Sprint in any mix, and return each with edits and a note. Your coach does not review the general resume you upload; the site checks that instead (see the Schedule); and
(b) reply to messages you send through Message coach in your member area, without a set limit on the number of messages.
Coaching is in writing only. There are no video calls and no phone calls.
6.7 At the date of these terms, coach reviews and replies are provided by our founder, Stefan Savva.
6.8 Fair use. Application Packs, targeted resumes and interview practice have no fixed total limit during your Sprint. To keep the service working for everyone, we apply automatic hourly and daily limits on how often each feature can be used. Normal use will not reach them. If you do reach one, wait and try again later. We may also limit or suspend use that is automated, bulk or plainly beyond what one person needs for their own job search (for example, generating applications for other people).
6.9 Employer places.
(a) Price and payment. An employer place costs A$599 per person, once. We invoice the employer. The invoice is due within 30 days and can be paid by bank transfer or card. We are not registered for GST, so no GST is included or added, and the invoice is not a tax invoice.
(b) Setting up. The employer sends us a name and a personal email address for each person, after it has told that person. We set up an account for each person and email them a link to sign in and a note saying their employer arranged it. We do not contact anyone before the employer has told them.
(c) What each person gets. Each person gets the Sprint as described in clause 6 and the Schedule, for 12 weeks from the day we set up their account (clause 6.4). The employer cannot use the account, and does not see the person's resume, stories, Application Packs, messages or anything else they make.
(d) The work belongs to the person. Everything made in an employer place belongs to the person it was made for, as in clause 13, and stays theirs after the Sprint ends and after they leave the employer.
(e) Places that are not used. A place is used once we have set up the account. We do not refund or swap a place because the person never signs in or stops using it. This does not limit any right the employer has under the Australian Consumer Law (clause 8.5).
(f) Refunds. The seven-day refund in clause 8.1 is for people who buy the Sprint themselves. For employer places, refunds are only as set out in (e) and clause 8.5, and are paid to the employer, not to the person.
(g) The person's own rights. A person in an employer place can stop using it at any time, and can ask us to delete their account under our Privacy Policy, without telling the employer. If we suspend or end a person's access under clause 12, we tell the employer that the place has ended, but not why.
7. When the Sprint ends
7.1 At the end of the 12 weeks your account becomes read-only. This means:
(a) you can still sign in, view what was made for you, and download your Application Packs and any resume you finished before your Sprint ended. A resume you had not finished can still be read on screen but cannot be finished or downloaded, so finish the ones you want to keep before your Sprint ends;
(b) your Account, Help, Your profile, Resume builder, Apply for jobs, Application tracker and Your shortlist pages stay open, and Message coach stays open so you can read past messages and send new ones;
(c) nothing new can be generated and no new coach review can be requested; and
(d) there is no way to buy more time. We may, at our discretion and without obligation, extend a Sprint.
7.2 Your Sprint can also end early:
(a) If you mark an application as "Got the job" and confirm "Yes, I got it", we treat your Sprint as complete and your account becomes read-only straight away, as in 7.1. If you got an offer but want to keep going, choose "Keep my Sprint going" instead and your Sprint stays open. If you pressed "Yes, I got it" by mistake you can undo it from the Application tracker, and your Sprint then runs to its original end date.
(b) If you receive a refund (clause 8), your Sprint ends and your account becomes read-only.
(c) If we suspend or end your access under clause 12.
8. Refunds
8.1 Seven-day refund. Full refund within 7 days of purchase. The refund is the full amount you paid. Email hello@changingcareers.com.au from the address on your account and say you want a refund.
8.2 We process refunds through Stripe to the card or payment method you paid with. Stripe usually takes 5 to 10 business days to return the money, depending on your bank.
8.3 When we refund you, in full or in part, your Sprint ends and your account becomes read-only, as in clause 7.1. You keep whatever was made for you before the refund.
8.4 After 7 days. We do not give change-of-mind refunds after 7 days. This does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (clause 8.5).
8.5 Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.
8.6 Free places. If your place was free with a voucher, there is nothing to refund.
9. Generative AI
9.1 Some of what the Sprint produces is written by generative AI, using models from Anthropic (Claude). This includes targeted resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn wording, interview questions and feedback, the questions that help you describe your work, suggested fixes to your own resume, the points the live interview assistant suggests, and a judgement of which occupations may suit you, with a short sentence on why. Spoken answers are turned into text by a speech recognition model run by Cloudflare.
9.2 AI output is not checked by a person before you see it. It can be wrong, out of date, or describe you in a way that is not accurate. You are responsible for reading everything before you use it, and for making sure anything you send to an employer is true. In particular, do not send a resume or cover letter that claims a skill, qualification, licence or experience you do not have.
9.3 Your coach reviews a targeted resume or an Application Pack only when you ask (clause 6.6). You can ask for up to three reviews during your Sprint, in any mix. The coach does not review interview feedback unless you send it to your coach. When you ask for a review, generative AI drafts suggestions for your coach. You see only what your coach sends you.
10. The live interview assistant
10.1 The Sprint includes a live interview assistant that listens through your device's microphone while you are in a real interview and suggests points for your answers. We do not store the audio or the transcript.
10.2 You are responsible for using it lawfully. Laws in each Australian state and territory restrict listening to or recording a private conversation without the consent of the people in it, and an employer may have its own rules about aids during an interview. Before using the assistant you must make sure you are allowed to, and you must use headphones so that the other people in the interview are not picked up.
11. What you must not do
11.1 You must not:
(a) use the site for anything unlawful, or to mislead an employer;
(b) upload or enter another person's personal information unless you have their permission. If you add a referee's name and contact details to your resume, or a contact's name to your Application tracker, you must have their agreement;
(c) upload content you do not have the right to use, such as another person's resume;
(d) use the Sprint on behalf of someone else, or share your account;
(e) resell, republish or commercialise what the site produces for you, or our role write-ups and data;
(f) scrape the site, use automated tools to access it, try to get around the hourly limits, or interfere with how it works; or
(g) be abusive to your coach.
12. Suspending or ending access
12.1 We may suspend your account, or end your access, if:
(a) you seriously breach these terms, or breach them and do not fix the breach after we ask you to;
(b) we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse of the service; or
(c) you dispute a payment with your card provider for a Sprint you have used, while the dispute is open.
12.2 If we end your access to a Sprint for a reason other than your breach or fraud, we will refund the unused portion of the A$299, calculated by days remaining.
12.3 You can ask us to close your account at any time. See our Privacy Policy, section 11, for exactly what happens to your information when you do.
13. Intellectual property
13.1 Your content stays yours. You own what you give us: your resume, your answers, your stories and examples and anything else you type, upload or say ("your content"). You give us a non-exclusive licence to store, copy and process your content, including by sending it to the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy, only so we can provide the site to you and keep it running.
13.2 What we make for you. As between you and us, you may use the resumes, cover letters, Application Packs and other material the site makes for you for any purpose connected with your own job search and career, without paying anything more and without time limit. To the extent we own any rights in that material, we assign them to you.
13.3 Our material. We own, or are licensed to use, the site, its software, its design and our written role content. You may view it for your own use. Government data on the site is used under the licences named in our Disclaimers.
13.4 Feedback and testimonials. If you send us feedback, we may use it to improve the site. We will only publish a testimonial or quote from you, or say you got a job, with your specific permission at the time.
14. Our responsibility to you
14.1 The Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including the guarantee that our services will be provided with due care and skill, be fit for any purpose we tell you they are fit for, and be provided within a reasonable time.
14.2 What we do not promise. Subject to clause 14.1, we do not promise that:
(a) you will get an interview, a job offer, or any particular pay or conditions;
(b) any occupation we show you is right for you, or has vacancies;
(c) the figures we show (pay, demand, shortage, AI exposure) will hold in the future; or
(d) the site will always be available without interruption.
14.3 Limit on our liability. Subject to clause 14.1 and to the extent the law allows:
(a) we are not liable for loss of income, loss of opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss; and
(b) our total liability to you for all claims relating to the site is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which for a free user is nothing, and for a Sprint member is the amount paid for the Sprint).
15. Complaints and disputes
15.1 If something has gone wrong, email hello@changingcareers.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 14 days.
15.2 If we cannot resolve it, you can contact NSW Fair Trading (fairtrading.nsw.gov.au), the consumer protection agency in your own state or territory, or the ACCC. For privacy complaints, see our Privacy Policy, section 13.
15.3 These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
16. Changes to these terms
16.1 We may update these terms. The current version, with its date, is always at changingcareers.com.au/legal.
16.2 If a change would materially reduce what you get from a Sprint you have already paid for, it will not apply to that Sprint unless you agree. For any other material change we will email account holders at least 14 days before it takes effect.
17. General
17.1 If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
17.2 If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
17.3 These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Disclaimers are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
Schedule: what the Sprint includes
This list describes the Sprint at 28 October 2026.
Finding roles
- The role catalogue: every occupation with a reviewed write-up, listed A to Z and searchable by title. Where the government has published no pay figure for an occupation, its page shows none.
- Up to eight labelled shelves of suggested roles, each naming what it matched on and where the data came from: roles most suited to you; where people in your kind of work went; skills overlap; roles where your field of study is common; roles you might enjoy, if you answer the optional interest questions; Australia's shortage list; a step up from your role; and spotlight roles picked by us.
- A shortlist of roles you want to keep.
Reading a role
- A written profile of each occupation, with pay where it is published, demand, shortage status, AI exposure and the qualifications the government lists for it, each figure attributed to the Australian Bureau of Statistics or Jobs and Skills Australia.
- A reach check that compares the skills, qualifications and licences a role asks for with what you have told us you hold.
Your resume
- A check of your own resume for spelling, typing and grammar mistakes, dates that do not match up and other inconsistencies, gaps between jobs, a missing email and layout hiring systems cannot read. You accept or reject each fix, and it stays in your words.
- Resume strengthening: plain questions about real moments at work, answered by typing or speaking, which turn what you actually did into evidence on your resume and Your profile.
- Your stories: times at work told start to finish, which you can read, edit and delete on Your profile, and which are used in your Application Packs and interview support.
- A targeted resume for any role in the catalogue.
- Application Packs: paste a real job ad and receive a second resume and a cover letter written against it, with LinkedIn headline, summary and outreach wording. Unlimited, subject to fair use (clause 6.8).
Interviews and applications
- Interview support: practice answered out loud or typed, with feedback.
- The live interview assistant (clause 10).
- An Application tracker.
Your coach (clause 6.6)
- Up to three coach reviews, of a targeted resume or an Application Pack.
- Written messages through Message coach. No video or phone calls.
Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Changing Careers is run by Stefan Savva, trading as Changing Careers, ABN 11 302 300 115, Redfern NSW 2016 ("we", "us"). For anything in this policy, email hello@changingcareers.com.au. The person responsible for privacy is Stefan Savva.
This policy explains what personal information we collect through changingcareers.com.au, why, where it goes, how long we keep it and how you can see, correct or delete it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. The short version
We collect what you type, upload or say to us, plus a small amount of technical information needed to sign you in and protect the site.
Our main database is in Sydney. Some of our service providers are overseas (United States and Europe), including the AI company that writes your resumes. Section 9 names them all.
We do not sell your information, we do not use advertising trackers, and we do not share your information with employers. If your employer arranged your Sprint, they gave us your name and email address, and they never see what you do or make on the site.
Some files are deleted automatically (resume uploads after 90 days, voice recordings within 90 days). Most other information is kept while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your information 30 days later, except a payment record that tax law requires us to keep (section 11).
3. What we collect
3.1 When you use a free check
What
Why
Career Change Check: your current job title and what you do in a normal week (the task group and tasks you pick)
To work out your result
AI exposure check: your current job title
To work out your result
Role Fit Check: the role you are checking, the skills you tick and the qualifications you say you hold
To work out your result
Your email address, which the Career Change Check and the AI exposure check ask for before showing your result, and the Role Fit Check asks for only if you choose to save your result
To create your account (see 3.2), save your result and email you (see section 7)
If you do not save your Role Fit Check: your answers, kept with no email or name attached, and the website the check was embedded on, if any
To understand how the check is used
If the Role Fit Check finds no match: the role you searched for
To let you know if we add it
The page you arrived on and any campaign tags in the link (for example "utm_source"). With your free check, we record which page of our site you first arrived on and the website that sent you (its name only, not the full web address), to learn which pages help people.
To understand which pages and campaigns bring people to the site
3.2 Your account
When you give us your email on a free check, or buy the Sprint, we create an account for you. Your account holds your email address and, if you add them, your first and last name, phone number, an email address for your resume if different from your sign-in email, suburb and state (state is set from your details and changed by emailing us). If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name and profile picture.
3.3 When you buy the Sprint
Stripe, our payment provider, asks for your name, card details and billing address. Stripe keeps your card details; we never receive or store your card number. Stripe sends us your name, suburb and postcode, the amount paid and payment references. We use your name, suburb and postcode to fill in your account details if you have not already.
3.4 During the Sprint
What
Notes
Your resume, uploaded as a PDF or Word file or pasted as text
We read it to find your skills, work history and qualifications
Your postcode, the minimum salary you would accept, and how many months you have before you need a new job
Asked when you start. Used to work out which roles suit you
Your current job, as read from your resume and confirmed or changed by you
Used to work out which roles suit you
Years of experience, highest qualification level, qualifications and licences, and the field of study of each qualification
You can enter and change these. We suggest the field of study from the qualification's name
Your answers to the 30 optional interest questions, and when you answered
Used to suggest roles you might enjoy. Answering again replaces them
Your answers to questions about moments at work, typed or spoken
Spoken answers are recorded and turned into text
Job ads you paste in
To write an Application Pack against the ad
Interview practice answers, typed or spoken
Spoken answers are recorded, turned into text, and the recording is deleted (see section 10)
Your Application tracker: for each application, the job title, employer, link to the ad, dates you applied and were interviewed, how it ended, a contact name and your notes, and, if you got a job, the role and anything you tell us about how it went
Added from your Application Packs or typed by you. If you add a contact's name, you must have their agreement (Terms clause 11.1(b))
Courses you add to your training plan
Messages between you and your coach, any note you add when you send something for review, and your coach's review notes
Referees: if you add referees to your resume, their names, positions, phone numbers and email addresses
You must have their agreement first (Terms clause 11.1(b))
Feedback you send us, and a testimonial if you choose to give one
What you do on the site: roles you view, shortlist or search for, and similar activity
To show your recent activity and improve the site
What we make for you: resumes, cover letters, Application Packs, interview feedback and the skills on Your profile, including earlier drafts
So you can view, change and download them
We also keep internal notes about your account, written by us or by our systems (for example a note that a refund was issued). You can ask to see them (section 12).
3.5 Technical information
What
Where it is held
Your IP address and browser details when you sign in
Recorded by our sign-in provider (Supabase) against each sign-in session
Your IP address or email address for a short time
Used to stop the site being overloaded or abused. Kept for about one hour
Server logs of requests to the site
Kept by Cloudflare, our hosting provider
Error reports when something breaks
Sent to Sentry. We configure it not to collect names, emails or IP addresses and remove known personal fields
We do not record your location beyond the postcode and suburb you give us.
3.6 What we do not collect
We do not ask for your age or date of birth, gender, health or disability, caring responsibilities, visa or citizenship status, ethnicity, religion, political views or sexuality. Your resume, stories and examples or messages might contain some of this if you choose to include it. If they do, it is handled as part of that content, and we recommend leaving it out.
3.7 If your employer arranged your Sprint
Your employer gives us your name and a personal email address, and the name of the organisation paying. We use them only to set up your account, send you your sign-in link, and invoice your employer. We do not ask your employer for anything else about you, such as why your role ended, your performance or your pay.
4. How we collect it
Almost everything comes from you, when you type, upload or speak on the site. Some comes from Stripe (payment details), from Google (if you sign in with Google), and from your browser (section 3.5).
If your employer arranged your Sprint, your name and email address came from them (section 3.7). The first email we send you says so, and links to this policy.
If information about another person reaches us through you (referees, or people named in your resume or stories and examples), we rely on you to have told them.
5. Why we use it
We use your information to:
(a) give you your free check result and run your account;
(b) provide the Sprint: suggest roles that suit you, check what you need for them, write resumes and Application Packs, run interview practice, and let your coach review a targeted resume or an Application Pack and reply to you;
(c) take payment, issue receipts and refunds, and keep financial records;
(d) send you the emails described in section 7;
(e) keep the site secure, stop abuse, and fix faults;
(f) understand how the site is used and improve it; and
(g) meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, we do not give it to employers, and we do not use it to target advertising. If your employer arranged your Sprint, we tell them only that your place has been set up and, if it ends early, that it has ended. In week 4 and week 12 we may send your employer a summary for the whole group: how many have started, how many signed in during the last two weeks, and how many have applied for at least one role. It never names anyone or says whether you did any of these. We send none when fewer than three people have places, and we write a count of one or two as "fewer than three".
6. Generative AI and automated matching
6.1 What goes to the AI
We use Anthropic's Claude models to read your resume and to write resumes, cover letters, Application Packs, LinkedIn wording, interview questions and feedback, and the questions that help you describe your work, to check your resume for mistakes, to judge which occupations may suit you, to suggest points during the live interview assistant, and to suggest edits and comments to your coach when you ask for a review.
To do this we send Anthropic the content needed for the task, which can include:
your whole resume, including your name and contact details at the top of it;
your postcode, state and minimum salary, when writing a resume;
job ads you paste in;
your typed or transcribed answers to example and interview questions; and
your words during the live interview assistant, as text, which we do not keep.
We do not send Anthropic your account ID or payment details. We do not remove names or contact details from your content before sending it.
6.2 Speech to text
When you speak an answer, the recording is sent to Cloudflare's speech recognition service (Workers AI), which turns it into text. Section 10 says how long recordings are kept. During the live interview assistant, your audio is sent to the same service as you speak, and the text of your own words is sent to Anthropic so it can suggest points. We do not store the audio or the text.
6.3 What the free checks use
The free Role Fit Check does not use generative AI. It works out your result from published government data. The free Career Change Check works out its first list from published government data, and uses Anthropic's Claude models to judge which occupations fit its other two lists. For that we send Anthropic only the occupation you gave as your current job and the tasks you picked from our list. We do not send your email address, your name or your account ID.
6.4 Automated matching
During the Sprint, our software scores how close you are to each occupation, using your skills, qualifications and the field each is in, current job, postcode, minimum salary, the months you have before you need a job and, if you answer them, your interest answers. Anthropic's Claude models also read your resume and judge how well each of a short list of occupations may suit you. Together these decide which roles we suggest and in what order. They do not decide anything else about you: they do not affect your price, your access, or anything outside the site, and you can still browse and use every role in the catalogue. No person reviews them before you see them.
6.5 AI output is not checked by a person
What the AI writes is shown to you without anyone at Changing Careers reading it first. Your coach reviews a targeted resume or an Application Pack only when you ask.
7. Emails we send you
7.1 Emails about the free check
When you give us your email on any free check, we send you your result and then a short series of four emails over two weeks about changing careers and about the Sprint. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link. If you buy the Sprint, we take you off this series.
7.2 Emails about your account and Sprint
We send emails you need in order to use the service: sign-in links, payment receipts, your Sprint welcome, notices that a resume is ready or has been checked, notices that your coach has reviewed a targeted resume or an Application Pack, notices that your coach has replied, notices that your Sprint has been extended, or that something we were writing for you could not be finished, and reminders two weeks and one week before your Sprint ends and when it ends.
During your Sprint we also send a weekly summary and a Friday reminder about your progress.
7.3 Unsubscribing
Click the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Our email provider stops marketing emails to you straight away. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop the account emails in 7.2 while you have an account.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items. We do not use advertising cookies. We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not track you across other sites.

9. Who we share information with, and where it is held
We share personal information only with the service providers below, and only so they can do their job for us. We do not give your information to employers, recruiters or advertisers. The only exception is what section 5 says we tell an employer that arranged your Sprint.

Overseas disclosure. Because Anthropic, Stripe, Brevo, Sentry, Google and GitHub are overseas, and Cloudflare may process data overseas, your information may be held or used in the United States, the European Union and other countries. Before sending your information overseas we take reasonable steps to make sure each provider protects it in a way consistent with the APPs, including by using providers whose contract terms commit them to protect it.
10. How long we keep information
10.1 What is deleted automatically
A daily job deletes the following:
What
When it is deleted
Uploaded resume files (PDF or Word)
90 days after upload
The text we extract from your uploaded resume
90 days after extraction
Voice recordings of interview practice answers
As soon as they have been turned into text (and in any case within 30 days)
Voice recordings of your stories and answers
90 days after recording
Searches that found no result
90 days
Live interview assistant audio and text
Never stored
Important: deleting the uploaded file and its extracted text does not delete your general resume, which is a copy of the text of your upload, or the resumes, Application Packs and other material we made from it, or your answers. Those stay in your account as described in 10.2. The text versions of your spoken answers are also kept in your account.
10.2 Everything else
Everything else in section 3, including your account details, free check answers, Sprint material, coach messages, activity and internal notes, is kept for as long as your account exists. Your account stays open after your Sprint ends so that you can keep downloading what was made for you. We do not currently delete inactive accounts automatically.
Payment records are kept for 5 years after the payment (or any refund), because Australian tax law requires us to keep business records, and are then deleted.
10.3 Backups
We copy the whole database to backup storage each night and keep the 30 most recent copies. Information deleted from our database can therefore remain in backups for up to about 30 days afterwards. Backups are stored with Cloudflare, which encrypts stored data. We do not use backups for anything except recovering from a failure.
11. Deleting your information
11.1 Deleting individual items
You can delete individual resumes, Application Packs, stories, skills, qualifications, Application tracker cards and shortlisted roles yourself in your member area. A deleted resume or Application Pack is removed from our database straight away (it can remain in backups for up to 30 days, as in 10.3). A deleted story is hidden from you and no longer used, and is removed when your account is closed.
11.2 Closing your account
To close your account, use the Delete my account link on your Account page, which opens an email to us, or email hello@changingcareers.com.au yourself from the address on your account. We will confirm we have received your request within 5 business days. This is what happens:
We record your request and the date.
We wait 30 days before acting, in case you change your mind. Email us in that time to cancel.
After 30 days, we permanently delete your uploaded files and voice recordings, your contact in our email provider (Brevo), and every record of your use of the service: your free check answers, profile, resumes, LinkedIn wording, Application Packs and tracker, interview practice, stories and examples, qualifications, interest answers, shortlist, messages with your coach, our notes about you, and any feedback you gave.
Then we delete your account details and your sign-in, so the account no longer exists and cannot be signed in to.
What we keep. Tax law requires us to keep a record of your payment for 5 years. We keep it with your name, suburb, postcode and the link to your account removed, holding only the amount, the date, the product, any refund date and the payment provider's reference (or, for a place an employer paid for, which employer paid), and we delete it when the 5 years are up. For an employer place we also keep our log of setting it up, which holds no name or email. Stripe keeps its own record of the payment under its own policy. We also keep a short log that a deletion was requested and completed, holding a random account number, the dates and the kinds of record removed, but not your name or contact details. We keep that log for seven years. We also keep a record of how much each AI request cost, with no content and no link to you. Deleted information can remain in backups for up to about 30 days (section 10.3).
If you want a copy of your information before your account is closed, ask us (section 12).
12. Seeing and correcting your information
Correcting. You can change your name, phone number, suburb and resume email on your Account page, and edit your skills, qualifications and resume in your member area. For anything else, including your email address and state, email us.
Seeing. You can view and download your finished resumes and your Application Packs in your member area at any time, and press "Download my data" on your Account page for one file of what you gave us and what we made for you. That file does not include our internal notes. To get a copy of all the personal information we hold about you, including internal notes, email hello@changingcareers.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for this. We may need to confirm your identity first, which normally means replying from the email address on your account.
We may refuse access or correction only where the APPs allow, and if we do, we will tell you why in writing and how to complain.
13. Complaints
If you are worried about how we have handled your information, email hello@changingcareers.com.au and say what happened. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and give you a written answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
14. Security
All connections to the site are encrypted (HTTPS, with HSTS).
We do not use passwords. You sign in with a single-use emailed link or with Google.
Our database, file storage and backups are held by providers that encrypt stored data.
Only our founder has administrator access to member information. Your coach can see your resumes, Application Packs, stories, messages, any note you add when you send something for review, and the information needed to review them.
Our database blocks direct access from the public internet and from member accounts to other members' records. Our own server code reads member records with an administrative key, so access is also limited by our code.
No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong, see section 15.
15. Data breaches
If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as soon as practicable, and in any case as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires. We keep a written plan for assessing and responding to a breach.
16. Children
The site is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or buy the Sprint. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.
17. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when what we do changes. The current version, with its date, is always at changingcareers.com.au/legal. If we make a significant change to how we use your information, we will email account holders before it takes effect.
Disclaimers
These disclaimers form part of our Terms of Use. Nothing in them limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (see Terms clause 14.1).
1. General information, not advice
Everything on changingcareers.com.au, including free check results, role pages, Sprint material and what your coach tells you, is general information to help you make your own decisions about your career. It is not:
professional career counselling or psychological advice;
financial advice, including about redundancy payments, superannuation or tax;
legal advice, including about your employment rights or a redundancy; or
migration advice.
It does not take into account everything about your situation. Before making a decision that matters to your income, such as resigning, accepting a redundancy or paying for training, consider getting advice from a qualified professional. For free, independent information, start with yourcareer.gov.au, and for government-subsidised training, dewr.gov.au/skills-reform/free-tafe.
2. Our coach
Your Sprint includes a human career coach (Terms clause 6.6). Our coach is not a registered psychologist, counsellor, financial adviser or lawyer, and coaching is not a substitute for them.
3. The data we show you
3.1 Where it comes from
The occupations, pay, demand and qualification information on our site come mainly from Australian Government sources:
the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS): the Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA), occupation descriptions, skill levels, licensing notes, pay from the Survey of Employee Earnings and Hours and the Census, and what people in each occupation studied (2021 Census);
Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA): the Occupation Shortage List, occupation mobility data, internet vacancy trends, Training Occupation Pathways, generative AI exposure ratings, and the ANZSCO to O*NET correspondence;
the US Department of Labor's O*NET database and Career Exploration Tools, for the optional interest questions and each job's interest profile; and
training.gov.au, for qualifications and units of competency.
On AI in the annual report, we also use companies' annual reports and other documents lodged with the ASX.
We also use the European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations (ESCO) classification, published by the European Commission, to describe skills.
Each figure on a role page names the body that published it.
Pay figures are typical (median) earnings for an occupation across Australia, from survey data collected at a past date. They are not a salary you will be offered, and pay varies with employer, location, experience and award.
Demand and shortage status is a national, occupation-level assessment by JSA. It is not a count of vacancies, and it says nothing about any particular employer or place.
Occupation mobility ("where people in your kind of work went") is historical data covering 2011-12 to 2020-21. It describes moves people made before generative AI was widely used.
AI exposure ratings are JSA's assessment of how much an occupation's tasks could be affected by generative AI. They are not a prediction that a job will be lost, or kept.
Government data is updated on its publishers' schedules. Some of what we show may be out of date.
3.3 What we do not have
We do not have live job vacancies, or information about which employers are hiring or where. We cannot tell you which employers have vacancies, how many jobs are open, or where they are. Where the site names an employer, it comes from a job ad you pasted in, your own resume or Application tracker, or, on our AI redundancy tracker and quarterly report, a published news report of a redundancy, linked from each entry, and, on AI in the annual report, an ASX 200 company's own published words, quoted with the document and page. Our AI exposure by region pages name ABS regions and use 2021 Census counts; they are not hiring or vacancy information.
4. How we suggest roles
Our matching software compares the skills, qualifications and other details you give us with what each occupation asks for, and suggests roles in a ranked order. It can only work with what it knows. It may miss roles that would suit you, and suggest roles that do not. A suggestion is a starting point for your own research, not a recommendation that a role is right for you.
5. AI-written material
Some of what we produce is written by generative AI (Anthropic's Claude models). This includes targeted resumes, cover letters, Application Packs, LinkedIn wording, interview questions and feedback, the questions that help you describe your work, suggested fixes to your own resume, the points the live interview assistant suggests, and a judgement of which occupations may suit you, with a short sentence on why. Spoken answers are turned into text by an automated speech recognition service.
AI-written material:
is not checked by a person before you see it;
can contain mistakes, including details about you that are wrong or overstated; and
can describe an employer, qualification or requirement inaccurately.
Read everything before you use it. Make sure every claim in a resume, cover letter or application is true and that you can back it up in an interview. Check details about employers, pay and training against the original source.
6. Interview practice and the live interview assistant
Interview feedback and scores are generated by AI and are a practice aid, not an assessment of how an employer will judge you.
If you use the live interview assistant in a real interview, you are responsible for making sure you are allowed to, under the law and under any rules the employer sets. See Terms clause 10.
7. No guarantee of outcomes
We cannot promise that using Changing Careers will get you an interview, a job, a pay rise, or any other result. Hiring decisions are made by employers, and what happens depends on the job market, the employer and you. We do not publish success rates or outcome statistics.
8. Training and courses
Where we mention a course, qualification or training provider, it is general information about what the government lists for an occupation. We have no commercial relationship with any training provider, we receive no payment for mentioning one, and nothing on the site is sponsored. Before enrolling, check the cost, the funding you may be eligible for, and whether the course leads where you want to go. Training costs money and time and does not guarantee a job.
9. Images
Some images of people on our site are generated by AI and do not show real people or real workplaces.
10. Links to other websites
We link to government and other websites for information. We are not responsible for their content, and a link is not an endorsement.
