What this job is

A debt collector pursues repayment of outstanding debts on behalf of creditors, financial institutions, or collection agencies across Australian jurisdictions. The role involves contacting debtors via phone, email, and written correspondence, negotiating payment arrangements, and recording outcomes within strict compliance frameworks including the Privacy Act 1988, the Australian Consumer Law, and industry codes of conduct. Debt collectors work within legal boundaries to recover funds whilst maintaining detailed case management records and escalating matters for legal action where appropriate.

Pay

A$1,519 a week

This is the median for full-time employees who are not managers and are paid at the adult rate, before tax and salary sacrifice. It is a guide to what the work pays, not a wage rate.
