What this job is
A fraud analyst examines transactions, accounts, and behavioural patterns to spot activity that looks out of place. The core work involves reviewing data, building cases, writing reports, and working with internal teams or law enforcement when something needs to go further. Fraud analysts may work in banking, insurance, government agencies, or large retail businesses. The role is less about chasing criminals and more about building a clear, evidence-based picture of what happened and why.
