What this job is
A Health Information Manager is responsible for the accuracy, security, and usability of health records. This includes coding clinical data using standard classification systems, managing patient record systems, ensuring compliance with privacy legislation, and producing reports that support clinical and operational decisions. The role is not a clinical one, but it requires a solid understanding of medical terminology, diagnoses, and procedures. Health Information Managers often work closely with clinicians, IT teams, and hospital administrators to make sure data flows correctly and is fit for purpose.
Pay
A$2,279 a week
This is the median for full-time employees who are not managers and are paid at the adult rate, before tax and salary sacrifice. It is a guide to what the work pays, not a wage rate.
