What this job is
Insurance Claims Examiners look at claims submitted by policyholders and work out whether those claims meet the terms of an insurance policy. They gather information, check documentation, and apply policy rules to reach a fair decision. The work is largely analytical. It involves reading policy documents, corresponding with claimants, and sometimes working alongside loss assessors or legal teams. The role is not about selling insurance. It is about applying the fine print of a policy to real-world events, such as car accidents, property damage, or medical incidents.
Pay
A$2,576 a week
This is the median for full-time employees who are not managers and are paid at the adult rate, before tax and salary sacrifice. It is a guide to what the work pays, not a wage rate.
