What this job is
KYC Analysts verify that customers are who they say they are. They review identity documents, screen names against sanctions and watchlists, assess the risk a customer might pose to the business, and keep records that regulators can inspect. The role exists because Australian law requires banks, insurers, and other financial services firms to know the people and entities they deal with. Anti-money laundering rules, counter-terrorism financing obligations, and AUSTRAC reporting requirements all depend on this work being done carefully and consistently.
