What this job is

Merchandise Planners keep retail shelves stocked with the right products at the right time. They study past sales data and current inventory levels to forecast what customers are likely to buy across different store locations and seasons. From there, they build plans that specify how many units of each product a store should carry, how the range should be structured, and how stock should be distributed. When things go off-plan, such as a slow-selling line or a supply delay, they work with buyers and logistics teams to adjust. The role also involves identifying products that are not selling and recommending markdowns or clearance strategies before stock becomes a bigger problem.

Pay

A$1,535 a week

This is the median for full-time employees who are not managers and are paid at the adult rate, before tax and salary sacrifice. It is a guide to what the work pays, not a wage rate.
