What this job is
A project manager is responsible for getting a defined piece of work done on time, within budget and to an agreed standard. That work could be a construction project, a software rollout, a marketing campaign or an organisational change program. The core job is the same regardless of industry: define the scope, build a plan, assemble the right people, track progress and manage anything that goes wrong. Project managers do not usually do the technical work themselves. Their job is to create the conditions for others to do it well.
