What this job is
A tax agent acts on behalf of individuals, businesses, and organisations to manage their tax affairs with the Australian Taxation Office. This includes preparing income tax returns, reviewing financial records, calculating tax liabilities, and advising clients on how tax law applies to their situation. Tax agents are legally authorised to charge a fee for this work, which separates them from people who simply help a friend fill in a form. Registration with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) is a legal requirement before anyone can operate as a tax agent in Australia.
Pay
A$2,003 a week
This is the median for full-time employees who are not managers and are paid at the adult rate, before tax and salary sacrifice. It is a guide to what the work pays, not a wage rate.
