What this job is

A water inspector monitors how much water is taken from rivers, streams and underground sources, and whether users are sticking to the rules. Water inspectors inspect sites and meters, check that farmers, businesses and other users stay within their water licences and allocation plans, and audit how water taken under a licence is used. They also assess applications for water licences, take water samples so quality can be checked, and investigate complaints about water theft or misuse. Part of the job is advising water users on how to use water sustainably.

Pay

A$1,862 a week

This is the median for full-time employees who are not managers and are paid at the adult rate, before tax and salary sacrifice. It is a guide to what the work pays, not a wage rate.
