What this job is
Workers Compensation Claims Officers assess and process claims from workers who have been injured or made ill through their employment. Day to day, this means reviewing medical reports, gathering evidence, applying relevant state or territory legislation, and deciding whether a claim is accepted or rejected. Officers also coordinate return-to-work plans, liaise with employers and medical providers, and manage ongoing payments. The role is largely desk-based and involves a high volume of written and phone communication. It sits within the insurance sector, typically inside a workers compensation insurer, a self-insured employer, or a government scheme manager.
Pay
A$1,995 a week
This is the median for full-time employees who are not managers and are paid at the adult rate, before tax and salary sacrifice. It is a guide to what the work pays, not a wage rate.
