What this role asks for
Certificate I or compulsory secondary education (ABS skill level 5)
Requirements
The standard entry pathway requires a Certificate I or compulsory secondary education (ABS skill level 5). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. Some employers may accept equivalent experience. Check yourcareer.gov.au for available courses and dewr.gov.au/skills-reform/free-tafe for subsidised training options.
The honest hard part
Your back, knees, and shoulders will take a beating from repetitive digging, lifting, and overhead work. Chainsaw work carries real injury risk if you're not constantly focused. Many positions are seasonal or contract-based, so job security can be patchy.
Where the jobs are
Some work exists with private landscaping companies everywhere, but regional areas have more steady forestry jobs. Remote work is not an option.
