Requirements

The standard entry pathway requires a Certificate IV or Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training (ABS skill level 3). The honest hard part

Most senior farm workers stay in hands-on roles with limited advancement into management without owning land or getting a degree. The work is physically demanding year-round, with long harvest seasons and early starts in all weather. Machinery breakdowns mean you're on call, and one mistake operating a harvester or handling livestock can cause serious injury.

Where the jobs are

Work follows rainfall patterns and cropping regions. Remote work doesn't exist in this role. Most positions are on individual farms rather than in towns, so relocation is usually required.
