The full list of fee-free TAFE courses in Western Australia for 2026, eligibility, and how to enrol.
What it is.
Western Australia delivers fee-free training through the Fee-Free TAFE initiative and the WA Government's Lower Fees, Local Skills program. For 2026, fee-free courses include Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021), Certificate IV in Community Services (CHC42015), Certificate IV in Disability (CHC43121), Certificate IV in Business (BSB40120), and Certificate III in Business (BSB30120).
Who qualifies.
You are eligible if you are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible visa holder, a WA resident, aged 15 or over. Priority access for people without a post-school qualification, First Nations Australians, and people on income support payments.
How to apply.
Search for courses at jobsandskills.wa.gov.au/training or contact your local TAFE campus (North Metropolitan, South Metropolitan, Central Regional, or North Regional TAFE). Check the fee-free flag on the course listing. Apply through the TAFE website. You will need your USI.
Limits and gotchas.
WA's fee-free list is focused on shortage occupations. Not every qualification in every pathway is covered. Regional campuses may have limited intakes. The Lower Fees, Local Skills program reduces (but does not eliminate) fees for some courses not on the fee-free list. Verify the current list at jobsandskills.wa.gov.au/fee-free-low-fee.
Where this fits in your plan.
If you are in WA and targeting community services, disability, or business admin pathways, check the fee-free list first. For mining-adjacent operations roles, WA TAFE also offers logistics and WHS courses at reduced fees. Start with the free Career Change Check at /assessment.
