What this job is
A bookkeeper keeps a business's financial records in order. That means recording income and expenses, reconciling bank accounts, processing payroll, managing accounts payable and receivable, and preparing reports such as profit and loss statements. The work is detail-focused and repetitive in a structured way. Most bookkeepers use accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks. Some work in-house for a single employer; others operate as contractors serving several small businesses at once.
Pay
A$1,400 a week
This is the median for full-time employees who are not managers and are paid at the adult rate, before tax and salary sacrifice. It is a guide to what the work pays, not a wage rate.
