Requirements
The standard entry pathway requires a Certificate I or compulsory secondary education (ABS skill level 5). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. The honest hard part
Your back and knees will take a real beating from years of digging, bending, and kneeling. Most of this work is entry-level pay with limited progression unless you train up to become a qualified Gardener. The work is also heavily seasonal in most of Australia, meaning inconsistent hours and income during winter months.
Where the jobs are
In practice, most jobs are in metro areas where there are more parks, gardens, and landscaping companies. Some regional work exists but is patchier. Council parks departments and private landscaping firms are the main employers. Very little remote work possible.
