The honest hard part

You'll work shift work including nights, weekends, and public holidays at busy airports and ports. The job is repetitive screening and document checking most days, with occasional high-stress situations. Career progression is slow within the Australian Border Force, and pay caps out earlier than related professions. You're also a frontline worker dealing with frustrated passengers and occasionally hostile situations.

Where the jobs are

Border Enforcement Operations Officers work almost entirely at Australia's major international airports and seaports. This is not remote work. The Australian Border Force concentrates staff at high-volume entry points where passenger and cargo traffic is heaviest.
