The honest hard part
You'll need a formal qualification (diploma or advanced diploma) and several years of site experience before you can lead. The role is physically demanding: you're on site in all weather, early starts are common, and you carry legal responsibility if someone gets hurt. Pay growth tops out unless you move into project management.
