Requirements
The standard entry pathway requires a bachelor degree or higher (ABS Skill Level 1). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. Some employers may accept equivalent experience. The honest hard part
You need serious capital to start. Most breeders break even or lose money for years. You're also locked into 24/7 animal care: foaling can happen at 2am and you'll be there, every night during breeding season.
Where the jobs are
Work is almost entirely regional and property-based: there's no remote work. Thoroughbred breeding clusters near racing districts; Quarter Horse and Warmblood operations are scattered across rural areas wherever land and facilities exist.
