Employers hiring for this occupation were generally able to find suitable applicants in 2025. Ratings are not the same everywhere. NT was rated in shortage. This measures how hard employers found it to fill jobs. It is not a count of jobs, and it does not say whether the occupation is growing.
Requirements

The honest hard part
The real trap: you're constantly firefighting scope creep and missed deadlines while vendors blame developers, developers blame requirements, and executives blame you. Burnout is common because you own the risk but rarely control the people delivering it.
Where the jobs are
Regional Australia has very few positions. Practically speaking, most jobs are in major metros. Remote work is possible but most employers want you on-site for stakeholder meetings and team management. Financial services and government are the biggest employers.
