Requirements

The standard entry pathway requires a bachelor degree or higher (ABS Skill Level 1). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. Some employers may accept equivalent experience. Check yourcareer.gov.au for available courses and dewr.gov.au/skills-reform/free-tafe for subsidised training options.

The honest hard part

The work is repetitive relationship management and meeting coordination. You're often caught between competing interests with no real power to resolve them, so you spend your day escalating problems upward instead of solving them. Burnout risk is real.

Where the jobs are

These roles concentrate in capital cities and regional centres with significant government presence. The practical reality is these jobs follow government and large non-profit clusters. Remote work is uncommon because relationship building and stakeholder meetings require face-to-face presence.
