Requirements

The standard entry pathway requires a bachelor degree or higher (ABS Skill Level 1). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. Some employers may accept equivalent experience. Check yourcareer.gov.au for available courses and dewr.gov.au/skills-reform/free-tafe for subsidised training options.

The honest hard part

You'll spend a lot of time chasing tenants for unpaid rent, dealing with angry landlords about maintenance costs, and managing complaints about leaky roofs or noisy neighbours. Pay growth can flatten unless you move into senior management. Many properties are spread across the region, so you might spend half your week driving to inspections. Tenant disputes can get messy and emotional.

Where the jobs are

Some roles exist regionally wherever there's significant property investment, but opportunities are thinner. Remote work is rare because you need to inspect properties and meet tenants face to face.
