Requirements

The standard entry pathway requires a Certificate IV or Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training (ABS skill level 3). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. Some employers may accept equivalent experience. Check yourcareer.gov.au for available courses and dewr.gov.au/skills-reform/free-tafe for subsidised training options.

The honest hard part

The work is repetitive matching tasks across government systems, with heavy compliance reporting that eats your day. You'll deal with clients facing real hardship while having limited resources to actually help them, which causes burnout. Some basic matching tasks may be automated over time.

Where the jobs are

These jobs are spread across major cities where employment services providers have their head offices and larger client populations. Most positions are in metro areas; regional work exists but is sparse. Practically speaking, you need to be near a Workforce Australia or Inclusive Employment Australia provider, or community organisation office. Remote work is uncommon in this role.

Pay
