Requirements

The standard entry pathway requires a bachelor degree or higher (ABS Skill Level 1). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. Some employers may accept equivalent experience. The honest hard part

You're on call 365 days a year: birds need feeding, watering, and health checks every single day including weekends and public holidays. Disease can wipe out your entire flock overnight, devastating your income. Profit margins are tight and squeezed by volatile feed costs and supermarket pricing power. You'll handle animal deaths regularly and eventually send birds to slaughter.

Where the jobs are

Most farms cluster within 100-200km of major processing facilities. This is location-dependent work: you need land and can't work remotely.
