Requirements

The standard entry pathway requires a Certificate II or III (ABS skill level 4). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. Some employers may accept equivalent experience. The honest hard part

Your income depends directly on passenger demand and fuel costs, both outside your control. Rideshare apps have cut into steady work in most cities, and you'll spend money on vehicle maintenance, registration, and insurance before you see a profit. Many drivers work 50+ hour weeks just to match a modest salary.

Where the jobs are

Regional centres have smaller taxi fleets. Most work is urban. Remote work is not possible for this role. Taxi services operate wherever there are enough people to support them.
