Requirements

The standard entry pathway requires a diploma, advanced diploma or associate degree (ABS skill level 2). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. Some employers may accept equivalent experience. Check yourcareer.gov.au for available courses and dewr.gov.au/skills-reform/free-tafe for subsidised training options.

The honest hard part

The role is heavily admin-focused, so you're doing a lot of scheduling, filing, and chasing people for information. If you're expecting creative problem-solving or strategic work, you'll be disappointed. Scope creep is real too: stakeholders often dump extra tasks on you.

Where the jobs are

These roles concentrate in major capital cities. Government agencies and large corporates in these metros employ the bulk of them. Regional areas have fewer positions. Practically speaking, remote work is possible for parts of the job, though many employers still prefer on-site or hybrid arrangements for meeting coordination and document management.
