Requirements
The standard entry pathway requires a bachelor degree or higher (ABS Skill Level 1). Specific qualification requirements vary by employer and state. Some employers may accept equivalent experience. The honest hard part
You'll be trapped in compliance and firefighting. Most of your time goes to managing regulations (Fair Work Act, privacy law, WHS), handling staff disputes, and chasing budget spreadsheets rather than strategic work. The pay ceiling is moderate for the stress level, and you're legally responsible when things go wrong. Many find it becomes monotonous policy administration.
Where the jobs are
Some exist in regional cities but mostly in admin-heavy organisations. Remote work is limited due to facilities management and team oversight responsibilities. Opportunities follow where large employers centralise operations.
